What to Fix on Your Google Business Profile in 30 Minutes
The highest-impact GBP improvements most local businesses can do quickly - without overthinking SEO.
What to Fix on Your Google Business Profile in 30 Minutes
Your Google Business Profile is often the first impression customers get. These fixes are fast and high-impact.
1) Confirm categories and services
- Primary category should match your main revenue service
- Add relevant secondary categories (only what you truly offer)
- Fill out the Services list with clear names
2) Add 5–10 real photos
Customers trust real photos more than stock images:
- storefront / exterior (if applicable)
- team / staff (optional)
- work examples / outcomes (safe + professional)
- inside of the space (for appointment businesses)
3) Tighten your description
Write for humans first:
- who you help
- what you do
- where you serve
- what makes you reliable (years, certifications, appointment-based, etc.)
Avoid keyword stuffing.
4) Turn on messaging (if you can respond)
If you can’t respond quickly, don’t enable it. If you can, it’s a fast path to bookings.
5) Add (or check) your hours and service area
- keep hours accurate (including holidays)
- define service area realistically
- ensure consistency with your website and contact page
6) Add 3 simple Q&As
Answer what people ask most:
- pricing structure (ranges or “depends” is fine)
- appointment availability
- service boundaries / eligibility
7) Create a lightweight review habit
The easiest system:
- after a completed appointment, send a short review request link
- reply to reviews consistently and professionally
